10 Tools and Resources to Discover Travel Trends and Topics

There are numerous websites, tools and resources that you can use to monitor popular travel trends and topics like Google Trends, Ubersuggest and Travel Massive to name a few.

Here are 10 tools and resources that will help you to do your topic research.

1. Exploding Topics

Exploding Topics (https://explodingtopics.com/) is one of the tools every writer should have in their toolkit. It uses an AI powered algorithm to uncover new trending topics. It analyses searches, conversation, and social mentions to find out topics that are trending or are about to take off. They cover a wide range of industries and travel is one of them.

2. Google Trends

Google and data are almost synonyms. Google as a company is gathering data on virtually every topic in a variety of ways, in Google Search you can search the entire web, Google Analytics analyses web performance of more than 90% of all websites. They make part of this data available for marketeers and advertisers. So, Google Trends (https://trends.google.com/trends/) is another great tool to use when researching topics to write about.

In Google Trends you can see how the popularity of keywords change over time and sorted by location. You can use this tool to find new topic ideas and see how popular topics and keywords are that you are writing about. The only downside is that in Google Trends you only see relative popularity on a scale of 0-100. So, you will need to consult additional sources to estimate how many people search for these topics each month.

3. Pinterest Trends

If you have a Pinterest account, you can check out Pinterest Trends (https://trends.pinterest.com/). Pinterest is the largest bookmarking social platform with more than 431 million monthly active users. In this tool you can find out topics that are trending on Pinterest. Search behaviour on Pinterest is especially useful for marketeers because users on Pinterest are often close to a buying decision.

They have a collection of research articles focused only on travel and tourism.

Google is everywhere. Another Google product that you can use to discover and analyze keywords and travel topics. If you are advertising through Google Search or Display networks, you have access to their keyword planner. Google Ads will give you keyword volume and features a graph showing the changing interest over time. The great thing about Google keyword planner is that it also gives you a list of related search keywords and topics to consider, together with search volumes. You can use AdWords in combination with Google Trends to identify the specific numbers behind trending topics.

6. Neil Patel Ubersuggest

Keyword research should be an important part when writing a new piece of content. Proper keyword research makes you understand what your target audience and reader is interested in and will give you more ideas about what content to develop for your audience.

Part of topic research is looking at what competitors have already written about your topic. Without doing an analysis of the competition out there, it will be hard to find a unique angle for your topic that has not been covered yet. Doing this research will eventually help you to rank higher for these keywords. And that’s our final goal as a content creator, that our content will be read by many.

Neil Patel’s Ubersuggest offers some useful features for keyword research:

Keyword Overview

In the overview part, you can see mobile and desktop search volume, the difficulty for ranking and how much paid advertising would cost per click.
